joriel and i have taken to watching episodes of ’six feet under’ and ‘carnivale’ that she’s downloaded. the former i have seen a little of before; i like it because it’s a decent soap opera, but they seem to have drifted - i hardly notice they’re undertakers, for example.
‘carnivale’, on the other hand, has been a treat - it’s exciting to see talented people at work, trying something different and not playing it safe. good mythology show, full of compelling exploration of older archetypes, set against the backdrop of the ‘dust bowl’ in depression-era america. it only ran two seasons, but i’m looking forward to the ride.
she may have no such aspirations, but i would love for a show like this to pick up tree as their costumer/dresser headmistress (i’m sure that’s the correct title) if she ever decided to take a break from broadway, so that her talents could be seen by a much larger percentage of the population.
