moon over 19th avenue

red towers, full moon

unpack. sort. throw away. unpack. sort. reconstruct. unpack. re-sort. you get the idea.

the circle of irony continues on unabated, which pleases me greatly. it has long taken a life of its own, and it’s going to serve as an excellent way to keep up with folks hither and yon; along with the steady stream of emails from friends, i feel just about as informed of goings-on as i did when i still lived in virginia.

like JLS said, it’s a different world now – moving away doesn’t mean what it used to. it’s nowhere near as personal now, of course; i miss the physical presence of my tribe, to be certain. nevertheless, here i am, typing away about my little doings for the benefit of us all. wheee

no word on the third cube. the first two sit empty on the curb, silently awaiting their kin.

2 cubes arrived today, finally. dave’s help in unloading them was invaluable. the missing cube contains most of our furniture, my bicycle, etc. of the present 2, one is filled with many little cubes, while the other has our bed and kitchen stuff.

dave had to head back to portland, prior to his flight back to virginia with michelle. i wonder when i’ll see him again; he was keen on visiting again next year, so maybe then.

james doohan died today, at his home in redmond, WA. sad at his passing; odd i should end up living 20 minutes from his deathbed.

gone is our minimalism; now is the time of clutter, through the alleys and valleys of little cubes.

finally got someone on the phone from the company who seems to understand the importance and urgency of us getting all our stuff back; now they’re saying it will be here tomorrow. if it weren’t for a handful of truly irreplaceable things in the 3 cubes, i would almost welcome their loss (see earlier entry to this effect). but
i’m mostly just mad that these people aren’t honoring their contract, returning my calls, that sort of thing. nevertheless, we made the most of it – eating, playing civ, eating.

update: they have ‘misplaced’ one of the three cubes. fantastic.

evening: civ3 online with john and chris (back in virginia). after a few technical issues, we played a rather cumbersome ww2 scenerio for a few turns until they started to nod off, then dave and i played a mesoamerica scenerio until 2am or something. fun all around; hope we can make it a regular thing.
